Acknowledging the importance of close trilateral cooperation in the field of water management, the trilateral mechanism on water resources was formally established in 2012. Since then the three parties have held Ministerial Meetings triennially and continued to develop cooperative projects to actively share policy developments and best practices among the three countries. They have also made a commitment to spread their achievements to other countries, especially in the developing world, to improve water security.

The TCS has been recognized by the three parties as a hub for cooperation in the water sector, and continues to work closely with the ministries to provide necessary administrative and technical support to organize the Ministerial Meeting. The TCS plans to further strengthen its partnership with ministries and relevant institutions and facilitate follow-up projects under the mechanism to promote cooperation and raise public awareness.
