On January 23, 2024, Secretary-General LEE Heesup of the Trilateral Cooperation Secretariat (TCS) welcomed a delegation from NEAR,* led by Secretary-General LIM Byung-jin, and engaged in discussions on enhancing collaborative relationships.
SG LIM introduced the NEAR’s key project plans for this year, emphasizing their efforts to expand outreach in regional cooperation, particularly in enlarging its membership to Central Asia and the ASEAN countries. Additionally, during the process of hosting various events such as NEAR's Day, Youth Leaders Forum, and NEAR International Forum, he expressed expectations for close collaboration with TCS in the future. SG LEE also emphasized the importance of broadening the scope of local government exchanges and actively seeking potential collaboration areas, speaking highly of the NEAR's commitment in this regard.
*NEAR(Association of North East Asia Regional Governments) is an independent cooperative organization that strives to achieve mutual development and cooperative exchange in Northeast Asia, consisting of metropolitan and local self-governing governments of six countries including the People’s Republic of China, Japan, the Republic of Korea, the Democratic Republic of Korea, Mongolia, and the Russian Federation.
