The Trilateral Cooperation Secretariat (TCS) announces that Ambassador YANG Houlan of China will serve as the new Secretary-General of the TCS, beginning September 1, 2015 for a two-year term.
Ambassador Yang has been Ambassador of China to Myanmar since 2013, and before that have served as Ambassador to Nepal (2011-13), Ambassador for Korean Peninsula Affairs (2008-11), and Ambassador to Afghanistan (2006-08). He has also served as Counselor and Minister-Counselor of the Embassy of China in the Republic of Korea from 2000 to 2006.
Ambassador Yang will be the third Secretary-General of the TCS, after previous Secretaries-General Mr. SHIN Bong-gil of Korea (2011-13) and Mr. IWATANI Shigeo of Japan (2013-15).
Mr. Iwatani Shigeo, current Secretary-General, will conclude his tenure on August 31, 2015. A farewell and welcoming reception for the outgoing and incoming Secretaries-General will be held on August 27, 2015.
