Seminar & ForumTCS DSG YAN Liang delivered remark at the Conference on Economic Digitalization and Sustainable Growth in AsiaOn 15 November, the Conference on Economic Digitalization and Sustainable Growth in Asia, hosted by Kyonggi University, Korea Institute of Finance, Peking University, and China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) in Korea, and supported by Korean Financial Services Commission and Chinese Embassy in Korea, was held in Suwon, ROK. Trilateral Cooperation Secretariat (TCS) delegation led by Deputy Secretary-General YAN Liang attended the Conference. In his remark, DSG YAN highlighted the progress and achievement of the trilateral cooperation, including the recent Trilateral Summit in Seoul, which prioritized economic, trade, and digital transformation as key cooperation areas. Emphasizing the growing economic ties between China and ROK, such as their substantial trade volume and increasing personnel exchanges, he expressed optimism for future cooperation driven by digital economy advancements and RCEP implementation. OthersTCS Deputy Secretary-General ZUSHI Shuji Delivered a Lecture at Kobe UniversityOn November 15, 2024, Deputy Secretary-General (DSG) Zushi Shuji of the Trilateral Cooperation Secretariat (TCS) delivered a special lecture at Kobe University.In his lecture, DSG Zushi began by sharing insights into his career as a diplomat before introducing the history and functions of the Trilateral Cooperation Secretariat. Seminar & ForumTCS SG LEE Hee-sup delivered speech at the SIIS International Conference on Global Review and Outlook 2024TCS Secretary-General LEE Hee-sup attended the SIIS International Conference on Global Review and Outlook 2024, held on November 14, 2024, at the Jinjiang Hotel in Shanghai. Organized by the Shanghai Institutes for International Studies (SIIS), the conference, themed “Seeking Common Ground in a Turbulent World,” provided a platform for global leaders to discuss the shifting international landscape and strategies for fostering cooperation amid rising uncertainties. In Session 1, titled “The Multipolarizing World: A Process Growing in Complexity, Diversity, and Uncertainty,” SG LEE delivered a speech highlighting the achievements of trilateral cooperation among China, Japan, and the Republic of Korea. He emphasized the success of the cooperation framework since its inception in 1999, which includes 21 ministerial-level meetings, over 70 consultative mechanisms, and more than 100 collaborative projects. He also pointed out the growing challenges posed by geopolitical tensions, protectionism, and economic fragmentation, emphasizing the need for strengthened efforts to sustain the free trade system and reinforce multilateralism to navigate these transitions. SG LEE reaffirmed the TCS’s unwavering commitment to fostering regional stability and cooperation. He emphasized the importance of trilateral collaboration as a cornerstone for addressing shared challenges, such as economic fragmentation, climate change, and demographic shifts. He highlighted how the concerted efforts of China, Japan, and the Republic of Korea could serve as a model for international cooperation, promoting peace and shared prosperity not only within the region but also on a global scale. Mechanisms1st Directorial Meeting for the 10th CJK Ministerial Conference on Transport and LogisticsOn 14 November 2024, the 1st Directorial Meeting for the 9th CJK Ministerial Conference on Transport and Logistics was held online. The delegations from Ministry of Transport of China, Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries of the ROK, Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism of Japan and the Trilateral Cooperation Secretariat (TCS) participated the meeting. Director XU Hongda from Department of Economic Affairs delivered a presentation. He appreciated the ministries for calling the meeting, and introduced the TCS and the progress of the trilateral cooperation. He furthered elaborated on TCS’s participation in the trilateral transportation and logistics mechanism, emphasizing two flagship programs focused on green logistics, including the Carbon Neutrality Forum and the Trilateral Entrepreneurs Forum. Meeting participants shared the progress of the Action Plans and discussed the preparation of the 10th Ministerial Conference.2024-11-14
